The region's brightest young golfers are being targeted to join the new program developed by the Barwon Sports Academy.
The Geelong and District Golf Association and Golf Victoria hope that having access to the academy's elite programs will encourage more youngsters to take up the sport.
Talented Torquay youngster Ben Eccles will be among the first intake later this month and program manager Campbell Muller said the GDGA was thrilled to be part of the academy.
"The academy can offer a lot of other aspects of their development that the district association can't," Muller said.
"While most of the kids' golfing needs are catered for, the academy can look after other aspects like fitness, personal development and nutrition programs that will help them make best use of their talents and reach the potential that they've got."
Muller said the GDGA executive had studied other golf programs around the state and used different aspects of those in its model.
An information night was held at Geelong Sports House from 6pm on Thursday, February 16.
